The McCain Files

Comments

As usual, good stuff, although not shocking to me. McCain during the debates made it clear that he wanted to continue the Bush Administration's policies foreign and domestic as they relate to "Terrorism". As much as I can't stand the Democrats,

I found this interesting however:

'self-proclaimed "small government" conservative movement'
I'm glad that statements like this are showing up. Because it is clear that conservatives are not "Conservative". In fact I haven't seen any real conservatism in my lifetime.
Meant to say that as much as I can't stand the Democrats, I would actually support an anarchist revolution should McCain continue Bush Administration policies. And this would be disastrous to our country although I believe less so than a continuous march toward fascism.

Anyhow I'd rather even have a hollow man like Obama than more of the last eight years.
The sad thing is that although I am by no means a conservative, I do agree with many of the real conservative ideas when it comes to things like skepticism of arbitrary government police power, domestic spying, etc. What the Bushies have done is far and away more scary than anything this country has seen since before World War II in terms of government power run amok. This is a precedent which must be totally dismantled. Hopefully the true conservatives realize this too and won't blindly vote for McCain simply because he has an (R) next to his name. A continuation of Bush's policies would be a huge disaster.
I wouldn't call myself a conservative either, but in reaction to Cheney's push for a unitary executive and the like... I suppose I am. It is interesting to note that some conservatives were strongly in favor of impeachment along with quite a number of the left in order to check this illegal expansion presidential power. Nancy Pelosi of course killed that opportunity.

I think it is no mystery that McCain is depending upon the votes of Democrats for election. And just as Democrats elected Bush twice. At this point they seem likely to elect his successor.
